Sizing photos for eBay listings

eBay accepts images up to 7 MB and asks for a minimum of 500px on the longest side, but photos under 1600px look soft when buyers zoom. Since zoom is what closes sales on collectibles, electronics and clothing, 1600 × 1600 has become the de-facto standard for listings.

Unlike Amazon, eBay does not demand a pure white background — you are free to crop tight or pad with any colour. The trade-off is yours to make: a padded square keeps the whole item in frame and looks tidy in search results; a filled crop makes the product larger and more dramatic.

As with every preset in this tool, the crop position is under your control — drag the photo inside the frame before processing, and apply the same framing to a whole batch with one click.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best photo size for eBay listings?

At least 1600px on the longest side — that is what eBay recommends for zoom. A 1600 × 1600 square works across eBay's layouts and leaves room for cropping in different views.

Does eBay require a white background?

No. Unlike Amazon, eBay allows any background for most categories. Pad with white if you want a clean catalogue look, or crop to fill the frame.

Can I batch process multiple photos?

Yes — drop up to 40 photos at once, set the framing once, apply it to all, and download everything as a single ZIP.
